I agree that there is a threat from the ideas to respond to climate change put forth by those who push global warming catastrophe theories. Many of those responses would be enormously destructive to the economy. That's part of (but not all of) how they overstate their case, by minimizing the downsides of their proposed solutions (or even suggesting that their solutions are positive even if global warming isn't an really an important issue)

OTOH the extremes on the other side overstate their case as well. The world generally has been warming. And CO2 clearly is a greenhouse gas. Human emission of CO2 clearly contributes to the world getting warmer. Yes there seems to be a recent pause, and yes some of the data adjustments in data are a bit questionable. But if the issue isn't as big or certain as those pushing it suggest, it also isn't a zero issue that's absolutely nothing but a bunch of lies and fraud.

The problem here is that there is almost a "default" action of spending money.

That isn't primarily a global warming issue, its a much more general problem in politics.

" We have a situation where essentially every Republican candidate -- the so-called "deniers" -- stood on stage last week and said yeah, there's global warming but we can't fix it."--------------------------------------Cruz wanted to talk about it. He was cut off from debate (wasn't allowed to speak) specifically because of his stance.
