<I don't see any evidence that the government is attempting to legislate the market, at least in terms of preferring one company over another. They are simply trying to level the playing field (somewhat) for competition.>

1.) You don't have to show preference to one company in order to attempt to legislate the market.

2.) The DOJ/courts are showing preference to MSFT competitors. At no other time in US history has the courts attempted to design a product for a vendor, against its will, in a technology it does not understand.

3.) There is significant demand for a "whole product". Read "Inside the Tornado," or just ask the guys at the local software store/OEM. People want a combined solution. If the governemnt legislates against a combined solution, they are attmepting to legislate market demand. Good Luck to them if they think they can do it!!

Have you purchased your updated copy of third party Winsock/Trumpet recently? Why not? Should the DOJ make MSFT split Windows up to level the playing field for Trumpet? If so, then I want the DOJ to split your company up and force them to offer non-competitive products, for they have more market share and money than I - and that's just not fair. Why isn't your company's products design dictated by the DOJ in order to level the playing field for RCM? If MSFT's loses this, I am going to request the same corporate welfare. Anybody who is doing better then me has an unfair advantage, and I would demand that the DOJ "level the playing field" so that I can surpass them.

Now I just have to save up my allowance in order to pay for Bob Dole adn Gary Reback:-)
