Michael - Thanks for your response. I would agree that if the Jaz disks are truly superior to the SparQ disks it's worth spending the extra money to store important stuff - for me, clips of the kids as they grow up. But is the length of the warranty really proof of quality? I guess that's my basic question and one that I haven't seen addressed (other than in the IOM vs. Nomai, which so far is clearly weighted in Iomega's favor).
And secondarily, most of what I'd like to use the drives for isn't that important - I'd love to be able to record 10 to 15 hours worth of music on a single medium, but it doesn't matter if the disks disintegrate after 5 years or so. If I could save 70% on the disk price, that would make it worthwhile. BTW, just how much can you record on a Zip or Jaz disk in terms of decent sounding music or video?
