I know you have also seen this over and over. Thankfully, I have seen many people post here who have been burned before. Their experience has obviously allowed them to see the red flags more clearly than one who hasn't had the experience.

But even sophisticated investors get snookered every now and then. I remember how much heat I took for not selling limited partnerships. I explained to my boss at the time that, in the beginning the general partner had all the experience and the investor had all the money. In the end the general partner had all the money and the investor had all the experience.

Not all the posters here are rookies though. And the rookies hopefully have learned this lesson early enough to smell this kind of thing coming, in the future, and profit by it.
