RACE's BT is a bridge to the past. Why throw good money after bad?

Essentially what we have here is twenty year old technology in a semi-modern package. If a company is truly interested in connecting their external workforce they need only look as far as the Internet and open, proven, standard solutions. Instead of trying to extend these expensive, proprietary corporate telephone systems with more expensive, proprietary solutions, save your money and modernize at the same time. Companies want to get away from those old systems, not throw more money at them.

There are plenty of high-speed data/fax/voice modems which can connect to corporate Intranet technology from any of the industrial giants in this industry, not to disparage the industrial midgets who have equally remarkable products for voice messaging, faxing, e-mail, and so on. Why bother with this proprietary RACE stuff? The only people remotely interested are corporate fossils and apparently they fall under the not too category of interested parties.

Superior solutions abound for what RACE purports to offer and for far less money. Who needs more proprietary equipment? I get the idea these are simply old telephony types with a late 70's early 80's mindset. Obviously simultaneous voice/fax/data would be more appropriate under some circumstances despite the overall degradation in performance. Equally obvious is that the need isn't that great. If you really need to talk at the same time; if it's really that important; if that's absolutely essential despite the overall performance hit you will take BUY A CELL PHONE! THEY ARE CHEAP! Heck, build-in a cell phone!
