It is said lycopene is the most powerful exogenous antioxidant. I would say that in combination with other caratenoids, such as lutein and zeaxanthin it could be very useful in preventing cancer. Studies on Lutein in california documented a 60% reduction in the incidence of colon cancer from taking lutein supplements. Lutein imparts a yellow/orange colour to vegetables and fruit, and is responsible for making carrots orange. Lycopene makes veggies red, yellow or orange, such as tomatoes, and red peppers. Lutein is found in leafy green vegetables.
