even entry level full time jobs should enable a worker to pay for the basics. Check out rents in the Bay area.
Those achievers never heard of entry level.
lack of affordable housing is their biggest problem. I don't know what the solution is, but it can't be shrugged off.

Same for me. We haven't eaten there since stopping for an Angus burger on the way to my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary.... 9 years ago!

I believe we were trying to find In-and-out and had to give up so we'd not be late... and we got to the church (renew vows) just in time....

But... what matters is if they pay $15/hr for zero skill jobs (well, showing up on time and working a full shift while mostly sober is a requirement) that used to go to high school kids to learn responsibility and save for college.... then it means anyone who expects more from their workers will have to pay a LOT more or the qualified workers will move to the zero skill jobs for the same pay to do less.

In 2000, a custom windsurfing board hand built to specs in CA was $1300 and $1000 got you a production board. They shifted production overseas to keep the prices in that range for production boards but this year boards are typically $2400 and now some are nearly $3000..... and they are made in Thailand. How much have wages gone up in that time and how much inflation does the government claim?

What is really interesting, over that same period, homes in my hood have gone up THE SAME AMOUNT! What $1M would buy then now costs $3M. My guess is that is a better measure of true inflation to live anywhere you can make a decent living.
