All religious dogma is founded in "ancient" times- unless it's a newer cult, like scientology or Mormonism- and even those are modeled on the more ancient religions. All of the religions exalt "believing" and reject free thinking- because free thinkers have doubt, and don't leave all their money to a church. It's true that Islam- like orthodox Judaism, Mormonism and Christianity- has some very problematic tenets regarding women- but it's not like you're going to convince religious believers with logic- that's why they're "the faithful"- they don't do logic. I wish there were no religions, and that all people were rational, but that's not going to happen, and it just pisses off the religious if you call them on their weirdness. So I'm not sure what Maher wants? Infidels "reforming" Islam? Yeah, that's going to work. Pissing off the peaceful masses of Muslims, by denigrating their religion? That always works SO well...

I agree with Maher as well. So does Ayaan Hersi Ali who wrote infidel.

She says the liberals keep insisting the Muslim brutality toward women only involves the radicals and she says it is mainstream. She counseled those women and had to leave the Netherlands after producing a movie about the brutality, and her co producer (Van Gough) was killed by a radical and the government could not protect her even tough she was in the parliament. She moved to the US.

Her book "Infidel" is a must read for anyone who wants to know the truth. Or read Virgins in Paradise by Barbara Wood about how the matriarch as a child slave of six was passed around form man to man for sex and then bought by a man who took her for himself.
