Nobody is arguing in favor of crackpots and criminals having guns. But you people seem to be going after responsible law abiding gun owners.

The Constitution doesn't mention the internet, typewriters, telegraphs, radio, tv, electronic sound systems .... so according to your logic free speech and free press doesn't apply to those media. Crackpots sometimes use knives to go on stabbing sprees, so I guess they should as endangering life.
