Increase in silver futures margin

The Comex exchange in New York has just announced an increase in
speculative futures margin for trading silver conctracts from
US$1,400 to US$1,800. Twenty-day average historical volatility has
risen to around 44 percent in the week ended Jan. 2 1998. An increase
in commodity's volatility usually portends a followed-up move on
related stocks.
