RE: Help!

I just bought a computer (pentium 200, 32 meg ram, 56K modem, 4.3 gig HD, Win95, Office97). I have lost my zip drive information and disk to install whatever I need to install on my computer so that the drive will be recognized and useable when I boot the computer. What can I do?

Thanks in Advance,

John

<<Would anyone care to speculate as to why the internal SCSI Zip drives are still in short supply even when all the other versions are readily available?>>

I would guess that they make fewer internal SCSI drives because there is less demand for them. Most people buying in the aftermarket will opt for an external PP (easier to install), some will go for an internal ATAPI (don't need an adapter), and only a few will want an internal SCSI (most PCs don't contain a SCSI adapter, and why spend an extra $100 to get one when you could just get an ATAPI drive instead?). Also, I invariably find the external SCSI drives in the MAC section of the stores, so there seems to be a perception in the marketplace that SCSI is only for MACs. While this is not true, this perception further decreases the demand for SCSI, especially internal - most MAC users are afraid to open up their computer (more so than PC users, I've found - not MAC bashing, just my opinion based on experience).

Anyway, I would like to find an internal SCSI too, so let me know if you find them anywhere!

Joon -

I have seen small quantities of internal SCSI Zips on store shelves. I have also seen small quantities of internal ATAPI Zips. Both are available in New York.

The reason that the quantities of internal Zips are smaller is because there is less demand for them, and stores order fewer of them.
