Question regarding owning a MLP in a tax sheltered account. Is there a certain dollar level (rough rule of thumb) of ownership that would keep us under IRS guidelines for allowed gains from such distributions?

I also added a small slug of EPD under $25 to bring it up to a full position (again, after the MLP sector slaughter of late had taken it down)... EPD and MMP have been my best, by far, performers in MLP mid stream, i.e., I am still way above water in both, but down from ATHs in both... and they both have, IMO, the strongest balance sheets and divvy/distribution coverage in the sector... good luck...
