It may be that higher tax rate only delay the inevitable and continuing devolution, and only assuring that all of the dry powder that could be used for attempts at recovery are burnt to cinder

The question may simply be, "have we passed the point of no-return"?

We are in the post-capital age now since interest rates are stuck at zero and unlimited available capital brings very dimished returns. While the super rich are trying to figure out how to profit from their fleets of idle cargo vessels and oil stocks, ordinary people are adapting and becoming super thrifty and voting for their friends.
