Scott,

My GV modem connects regularly at 40 or 42K from my home, but when I go over to a friend's house (which is in the next town over and the same town as the ISP dialup is in), my laptop connects at 50 or 52K. Not sure if it's a dirty phone line at my place or his being closer to the ISP, but something's making a difference.

Regards,

Jeff
