We did not have any sunflowers. The neighbor farmers had some. From our land going east to the red river you would see an increase in the sunflower planting. Had a fairly large size acreage of sugar beets, all else was fairly the same as usual. My nephew the farmer also is part owner of the sugar beet refinery. The crop this year was the largest since the land was homesteaded. (1880's) Great weather for growing in that area of the country. The 5th generation farmer planted a large garden and he was feeding to whole neigborhood.
