I noticed lately a flurry of articles indicating how bearish it would be if 1867 gets taken out. While it's true that in order for a large bear market to evolve, 1867 must go -- it's not true that such an event would necessarily mean anything very bearish.

In EW, 1867 getting taken out MAY still mean that it's a correction. It could be a Flat, a Double Flat, a zigzag... In any of them, the ultimate low can be below 1867. It happens with Elliotticians as well - I remember how the EWI, back during the 2000-2002 Bear, advised that if the market breaks (a certain) previous low, just call your broker and ask him to take you out of "everything". The low was broken, but the market soon bottomed.
