John , re. would you invest in AMD at these levels
I suggest you take a 10 yr chart of AMD and look at the peaks and valleys . You will find that AMD peaks usually around march-may period ,especially after a sell off at year end . In most of those cases there is a doubling of stock price . The year that it did not follow the usual pattern was '95 , but this was the year that the Nexgen merger gave dilution of earnings and also delay waiting for K6 .
Most AMD investors here will tell you that the fundamentals going forward have never looked so good for this company , for the first time in AMD's history they have the product , the market acceptance and the production facilities . The Intel investors will tell you differently because they are over here for one purpose . That purpose is a strange one indeed , in their minds they feel that their negative contribution to the AMD thread will somehow make a difference as to the outcome in the CPU wars .
Brian

Merry X-86miss! to all who thread here. Let it be known to the World. The Tale of three WiseIntleman.
Three reluctant WiseIntlemen, named Yousef, stockman and rod mcphearson came to this thread to withness the birth of a new King, the AMD 266@.25u. They were told a star shinning brightly in the night would lead the way. They had heard form their footmen, Paul,Joey and Elmer to journey here in search of a New Master, not like the dark master they had worshipped in the past which had lost it's luster and slowed by time and tired from the heat in it's labor.
The New Master promised to lead it's flock, made poor from being overcharged by the dark Master, out of Santa Clara, to a new promised land of Milk and Honey, if only they would beleive. If only they could beleive in the New Massia they too could have spare change left over to buy cheap coffe which they loved to drink. And their burden would be lifted. Their tasks could run faster and cooler in the promised land of Sunny Vail, as it was the new promised land of milk and honey.
The New Master would show them the way to lighten they load. How so, the WiseIntlemen asked? for they were still in disbelieve. Well for one they would no longer have try so hard to prove obscure points for everyone would know no one else could build a AMD K^-6+3d chip with 21 million transistors. Or how they could be customized for even more profit without sacrificing the slighest noticalble speed and the smoothest seamless vidio. If only they would beleive. They wanted to believe. But in the end they lost faith and went back to serve their Dark Master, ruler of the evil empire, where they eventually withered under the whip with nothing to show for their toil and investment. They refused to risk and sowed no seeds in the promised land of milk and honey, and reaped no grain. Life is not so good under the Dark Master but they would never know the life they could have had had they beleived. They saw the light but refused to let it shin on them for they never learned how to take a risk. If only they would take the risk.
