Brian,

I suggest you take a 10 yr chart of AMD and look at the peaks and valleys . You will find that AMD peaks usually around march-may period ,especially after a sell off at year end . In most of those cases there is a doubling of stock price.

Thx for the response. That's exactly why I'm drawn to AMD at this
particular time. My thinking is AMD should see $25 sometime in
Jan, 98. That's a pretty good pop. I've made $ before in AMD, but
there are some things that currently make me nervous about AMD:

1. Price cuts coming in Jan (originally Feb)
This signifies a little more pressure on pricing that was expected.

2. The Asian debacle
INTC has something like 23% of revenues in ASIA. Does AMD
have similar #'s? If so, this could keep a lid on the stock.

3. Weaker projections for PC demand in the next 12 months
This may not be such a big deal for AMD who is trying to
dramatically raise market share and eat into INTC's lunch.
They can still make big inroads even with weaker demand, since
it theoretically comes at INTC's expense.

4. A net loss for the last 12 months.
Sure it should turn around, but you know what they say about
a bird in hand.

Having said all of that, I can't see AMD going much lower than this
unless it gets really ugly for the semi's and PC stocks or if INTC
gets serious about squashing AMD. Hopefully $13-14 is the floor for
a while, while mid $20's is the short term upside.

If I'm gonna get in, I probably only have 1 or 2 more trading days,
since the rebound usually starts happening the last few days of the
year.

Good luck,

John Dodson
