In retrospect, AMES underestimated the new economy, with their inventory. We generally advise a procedule called accelerated schedule for quick inventory replenishment. It is arranged for suppliers to have a half of a month's inventory for AMES in their warehouse ready for shipments if needed. Normally on time for the next month's shipment but ready for accelerated schedule. If it is one month, then the supplier may need extra warehouse. If it is half a month's inventory, it may just be off the shelf. Some times suppliers' extra profit is a slight over production; as long as some one wants to buy them.

AMES even put out manafacturer's samples to fill the racks. Sears had inventory but only one kind to fill the empty floor space. It looked totally out of place.
