Eric, you are not very good at debating.

I'm actually pretty good at it. Was on the debate team in high school and won all of the ones I was in.

1....People can spot a hoax without being experts themselves [you missed that point]

LOL, the only ones who got hoaxed are the "scientifically uneducated" deniers!

2....You obviously don't have anything other than that regenerative braking capacitor trial so there's no capacitor car

No trials, lots of them in transportation today.

Supercapacitors for electric vehicles are gaining traction The replacement of batteries means grabbing a chunk of the lithium-ion battery market in particular but also inroads into lead-acid and nickel metal hydride territory.

gigaom.com

You are not keeping up with the technology!

They are already used for starting some hybrid cars.

Musk and company working on a car prototype cap car now.

3....The amount of energy to be gained from regenerative braking [almost zero]

You sure have no experience with electric cars.

A friend of mine drives his Leaf from Bellevue, Wa up to a ski area with his family with an elevation gain of almost 3000 feet about 45 miles from his house. On the return trip back he regains about 20 miles back in his range.

Here in stop and go traffic I gain about 20% more range over the energy originally used. (No freeway driving during that cycle.)

The cost of having a delivery van and driver sitting around a charging station for half an hour is ridiculous. It's better to swap the battery and get going. People like you with time to waste are happy to sit around a Tesla waiting room for an hour. [half an hour to get a turn at a charger and half an hour to recharge 60%]

I've never had to wait, and neither have my friends who have Tesla's. After all we recharge at home vast, vast majority of the time. Last time I used a supercharger was last summer after driving almost 300 miles and needed a pit stop anyway to get a bite to eat and visit the restroom. Perfect timing!

No more stopping for dirty, polluting petrol...

I won the Global Warming debate.

In your dreams of "antiscience" ha ha.

Don't show up at any university, you will get laughed off campus.

Have you gotten your pilots license yet?

Mau , start with the link and you can earn your merit badge for understanding regenerative braking.

youtu.be

In the diagram, picture a battery ,, where the resistance heat grid is on the locomotive. .. the same scenario is happening with regenerative braking of Electric vehicles ,,and electrical charge is not ""almost zero.""

Sometimes you must listen to people that have experienced driving a modern electric vehicle to earn your badge .. Driving that ancient Hillman ,,Camry doesn't cut it anymore.

The gain is not to be exaggerated,, but a gain none the less.. very difficult to put a percentage on the gain because of all the terrain variables.

The gain in the railway industry would be huge if those hundreds of amps of wasted heat could be stored in batteries for the next uphill leg .. Maybe Elon Musk could add a floor to the giga factory to produce such a battery..

Shame to waste all that raw energy that is magnified by massive tonnage wanting to take off down the hill... And shear beauty not wearing out brake shoes and wheels on trains and not wearing out brakes on EV' s,, in both rail and EV regenerative braking applications.. can not be appreciated enough.

Every good scout knows that ultra caps are not batteries but good at supplying extra boost to get ya up to speed.
