1/22/16 Contest update Was it fear of the blizzard that got the algos to stop selling? Or maybe it was the blizzard of fear that got me chanting over and over “I capitulate”? Who cares! What counts is that biotechs actually managed a tiny gain for the week! At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -22.51% YTD (vs. down -24.68% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -14.87% YTD (vs. down -16.04% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -21.03% YTD (vs. down -21.54% a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -8.31% YTD (vs. down -10.36% YTD a week ago). Our Contest leader remains in the red, with DODGY’s portfolio, down -11.08% YTD, now in first place. Second place still goes to JBOG’s portfolio, down -12.00% YTD, with DNAJOE’s portfolio, down -12.41% YTD, in third place. At Friday's close, all 58 Contest portfolios continued in the red, with 7 beating the NBI and 23 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks have an average YTD loss of -19.40% and a median YTD loss of -20.52%. Below is the Top Ten list.
