Sure, Intel has done it. Quake is maximized for the Pentium. The Pentium II will run quake faster. Every kid should have their parents buy them a Pentium II, Spend $2000+ so the kid can play a stupid game. Of course, a 6x86MX with a Monster 3d Voodoo will run it quite well too.
In reality, I can put my Pentium 166 next to my 6x86-PR200, detune the 6x86 to PR166 and the 6x86 just plain blows it away in response time.
