Joel...you are correct...not even my CPA was aware of the recent change in the tax laws on this particular subject! I showed him the Barrons article and he chased it down from there...and then he thanked me!!!

Sounds GREAT!
They seem to have taken to old proposal for futures traders and made it an ELECTION available for "Traders." This goes against several Court Cases in years past, that helped form the BASIS for taking a "traders" approach on a person's form 1040. Amazing that it was addressed by Congress, and just as amaziong still is that few people know about it,

I will have to look up the exact law that BARRONS refers to... one of these days (g)
