We are carnivores.

True enough, but the real question may be: Are we atypical carnivores in that we eat far more meat than our paleolithic ancestors. I guess we'll never find out without a time machine.

My mother just got diagnosed with pre-diabetes. Given that and what I thought I knew I've been telling her to lay off the usual suspects, e.g. - sugar, pasta, processed grains, starchy carbs, etc., but now I'm not so sure that this is the correct answer. Ideally, I would like for her to fast one day per week, but that is a non starter. That's what I've been doing(although I'm not pre-diabetic) - until lately. I haven't fasted in 3 or 4 weeks and boy does it show as the scale tells me that I've put on 5 lbs.
