Sig, I should have added to my last post but Todd beat me to it. I am sure that the larger retailers (ie Targets, Best Buys, ToysRus) inventory all games and simply ship stores from their own warehouse. I was in Best Buy last week and the guy working video dept. stated that the store does not order the video department. They stock whatever is sent out by corporate.

I believe this is true for the other large retailers. Corporate probably has an auto ordering system for each of their stores factoring in movement history, seasonality, advertising and promotion etc.

Thq seems to have inventory management down to a science. Clearly they have some sort of system or formula for managing inventory along with good old fashioned "gut feel". Video games are largely a pershiable product with varying degrees of shelf life. THQ has to be more conservative on the cartridge based games because of their cost. They can't get too long on WCW NWO.
With CD games there is more margin for error, simply because there is more margin.
