Hi Jane,
I am responding to your post on the Ask God thread here about the rapture and the suffering of the Saints, "boiled in oil" etc. I understand the word rapture came out of the last century when their was a movement in the Church that thought the taking up was about to happen then. They had little understanding of the Revelation of John then though and were wrong.
It is popular to say the Church will be raptured out before the great tribulation but too much scripture does not support that.
John 16:33
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage, I have overcome the world."
It is stated over and over that we will suffer tribulation in the world. It is a given that we will. It is also well established in the Word that we will not suffer God's wrath.
1 Thess. 5:9
For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rev 11:15 is the sounding of the seventh trumpet which is the last trumpet in Revelation which Paul referred to in 1 Cor. 15:52.
In Rev. 13; At this point authority is being given to the dragon to act for 42 months and verse 7 states
"And it was given to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them; and authority over every tribe and people and tounge and nation was given to him. (verse 8) And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, every one who's name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain."
Now the troubling fact is here that the dragon cannot make war on the saints if we are not here on earth at that time which is the great tribulation. We are here and we will refuse to worship him and he will make war on us and overcome us. His authority is for 42 months. In Rev. 13:16 we get to the "mark of the beast" which the saints will refuse to take.
In Rev. 14:9-12 an angel says all those who took the mark of the beast and worshipped his image are doomed and will drink the wine of the wrath of God. And in verse 12 "Here is the perseverance and faith of the saints who keep the commandment of God and their faith in Jesus."
The church is still here after the mark has been given. In verse 12 my Bible has a 1 in front of the word saints which means there is another translation which is more literal. The more literal translation for saints there is "true believers". That is very telling as when this tribulation takes place many will fall away as in the great falling away when they realize what they must suffer for their professed faith. What a shock to the pre-trib christians who thought they would be gone to see all this taking place. Will they be able to rise to the challenging of their faith and persevere?
In Rev. 14:14-16 the Lord reaps the earth of His saints (rapture). And after that the wrath of God is poured out which we are not appointed to suffer. We are not appointed to wrath! Thank God.

Come Lord Jesus
