With the current market it is very difficult to pick stocks that will make a good run when you get a buy signal. Yet there are some that give you a good ride even in a poor market climate. So here is my question to all : When your scan brings up several or many stocks that meet your buy criteria, how do you select the one that will be a real winner?

Is it....The strongest uptrend? The one that has been beaten down the most? The best relative strength number? The best earnings index? The breakout stock.? The one that broke a long term downtrend line? Or broke a short term downtrend Line? Or a stock that is strong longer term and gives a short term buy signal? One with the highest beta? Or what?

This is a question that perplexes me the most. The game is not buying and selling a single stock (like system tests measure) but rather how to select the best from many. I would like to hear viewpoints from as many TAOTN members as possible.

One more question. When you buy a stock what % of the time will you have a profit after 1 day or 2 days? And when you are holding a stock on what % of the days will that stock move up?

I get discouraged when the stocks I buy dont move up right away and when a significant % of my stocks are down on a given day. Makes me begin to doubt my approach.
