Besides their new islands, the Chinese have one used carrier they bought from Russia. I imagine they're still learning how to fly off of it. popularmechanics.com

Frankly, what China is doing is the best argument yet for building a Mobile Offshore Base. en.wikipedia.org One of the big arguments against it, other than what admiral wants to helm such a thing, is defense. What with military lasers being tested right now and railguns soon to be deployed, that little problem is moot.
