I presented this short idea on the ATML (Atmel) thread and was completely ridiculed for my lack of timing. They said NEVER short a stock near its lows. I think SOMEBODY sure is selling this stock.

Rog,
There are techniques to improve your timing. You miss the top but you don't go under either. Lots of people shorting AVNT around $30 before it went up to $35 and being short at $35 with a cost of $30 is tough, I don't care how much money you have. I posted on SI that I sold short at $33.50 the day I positioned, 9/23 I think. The next day it lost $3 and started the decline to $17 5/8 where it is now. I just did the same with ZONA. Selling short because you think the price is too high isn't a good practice. Also the danger of the small float is too great for me. The funds lend their shares for shorting until the shorts get excessive and then the funds call their shares. If you have never been involved in a "buy in" by your broker because his shares to lend have been called you will be soon if you continue to short widely held thin float issues.
>>>You either need good timing or guts and deep pockets to play>>>
I have good timing but I am timid and thats how to get deep pockets.
Good luck
