Stockman, Glad you showed up. I was taking to a friend of mine and he commented on how he watched consumers buying the new Compaq preserio with AMD K-6 233 INSIDE. It was the damdest thing to watch. they would bang on a few keys on the preserio then run over and bang on the ibm aptiva with Intel pentium II inside 233. Run back to the perserio asked about how to up grade to future generation chips. Salesman said with the preserio all you do is pop the cpu and drop a new one in. with the aptiva your have to buy a whole cartrage with motherboard. and of coarse it will cost more cause it's Intel only choice. Consumer says as long as it works about as well and it sells for $600.00 less I'll take it. It seems all the consumer need to know about a K-6 is does it work when I get it home. My friend commented further. You know for the billions Intel spent on the "Intel Inside product brand recognition campaign it doesn't seem to make a difference. Consummers know when they spot a bargain.
