It takes 3 days to settle after selling a stock. Does the settlement date have to be in 1997 to get the loss? If so, we are out of that period for taking a 1997 tax loss. Maybe next week will pick up.

I wish I had kept it but IBD last week showed several Fidelity funds (Computer, Electronics, etc.) that had recently made big purchases of CPQ as well as other tech stock. Several weeks ago, it showed they had been selling big with no buys. Hopefully, things are turning around or will soon.
