Can't find my original post. No matter Western Electric in Pa. before the break up of AT&T, was an outstanding development arm of bell labs. I can't recall how they reorganized after break up. I am impressed by maufacturing set up by TI, INTC. Lucent has facilities for chip manufacuring, but their main interest has been and will always be research. Things have changed some extent big contracts important now. Of course who knows they may come up with something big and outsource it. Don't you think somebody with intergated facilities would be better off? Jerry
