There's no rationale for banning members without warning for an unstated new "policy". That's just rude and unprofessional. It would have been easy enough to announce the new policy so that all SI members are equally informed. There are a number of other obvious, more thoughtful approaches that could also have been taken . But hey, it's your house, and if members don't like being treated this way, they can just leave.

It's also an oversimplification to deem the use of ad blocking software as "theft of service". There is an ongoing epidemic of advertising malware, and many users of ad blocking software refuse to disable it for this reason:

"Advertising malware rates have tripled in the last year, according to report "
theverge.com

"The real reason online advertising is doomed and adblockers thrive? Its malware epidemic is unacknowledged, and out of control."

"Forbes forces readers to turn off ad blockers, promptly serves malware"
