conventional wisdom has it that the "january effect" is sector specific (tech and smallcap). don't remember what the logic for that is, but i read it somewhere on si, so it must be true. :-) this coincides well with your observation on the naz oscillator. the big question is if the rally comes, will it be stronger than the deep funk techs have recently been in? let's hope so.

I have said all along (for over 2 months now) that I thought we would have such a rally and that it would start the last week of Dec...

My Barron's based forecasts based on indicators from Barron's, however, does NOT show such a rally this week...

But what do THEY know?

(VIX supports such a rally, though)
