I am a liberal because my reading of history shows that the liberals worried about the poor the most. I worry about the poor the most and you can put forth all your high falutin theories, but in the end what the poor need is food and shelter.

When FDR passed Social Security it pulled millions of women and men out lives of of abject poverty living lives of misery. And FDR was opposed by the Republicans every step of the way.

I have been lucky in life and have done well. I have never had to worry much about food or shelter. But I see people all around me having a really tough time. And I have a background and work experience in the social sciences of helping poor people in society in a scientific manner.

My mother was raised one of 13 children in Oakland California, and was raised by an older sister. Everyone was poor. I grew up in Richmond California one of the largest ghettos in the United States. I know poor and I know the streets.

And I know that the liberals and the Democratic Party have been directly helping the poor more than Republicans for over 100 years.

Just look at what the Republicans talk about in their debates and look at what the Democrats talk about in their debates.
