Because of the dividend problim IMO puts are the way to go.This is a
short term play as thay will solve there problims eventually. however
untill thay do earnings will be severly depresed.Labor costs have gone
through the roof as crews are paid overtime while waiting to enter switching yards,Years of defered maintainence are causeing constant equiptment failures.UNP has huge claims to pay as Christmas merchantdise has still not moved from the westcoast.IMO yes earnigs will be much lower then estimates.

Charles, Re: Dividends - An easy way is to get a quote (detailed version) from Yahoo. It will indicate the dividend date. Also, if you get the news stories on Yahoo, they should announce it. If all else fails, try the latest 10-Q or 10-K. Anecdotal evidence on UNP makes me think this is one that could take a big hit. Have not done any DD on it though.
