Rarebird, pragmatism is indeed provable. Just point to a time in modern history when protectionism worked. You know, when a nation punished a multinational corporation for moving their operations to another country and the nation came out all the better for it.

The only support you give for "fair trade" is sentiment, which is a classic liberal justification for any policy you believe in, whether it works or not. In other words, because you "care," that means you don't have to prove that your solutions are indeed practical.

All you have to do is say that you are a "pragmatist" and that anyone who disagrees with you is a "rigid idealist." That's about as empty as a promise coming from Hillary.
