[AWRE DSL Lite]

Norman --

As I understand it, the difference between what's going on now and the earlier Lite announcement is the fact the product is up and running. I know the T1/E1 committee is working on adding a Lite solution to the standard and I also know telcos are interested in a product that uses less power and costs less than the higher-speed solutions.

Actually, I think telcos want to offer a range of speeds right out of the gate. A VW bug to go along with the Ferraris and Lancias.

Just my take.

Pat

Wondering whether <Rumor of ADSL-lite product announcement early in January > and following artilces <NTT to Launch xDSL Field Test in Feb. '98> have any connections.

Also remember reading a news item from AWRE that they were to participate in some xDSL tests in Japan. Having NTT as a partner in Japan could be wonderful for AWRE. What the heck, I will start '98 with champagne. Happy New Year to everybody.

December 30, 1997 (TOKYO) - NTT Corp. will field test digital subscriber lines (xDSL) from February to December 1998, company officials said.
