Carly Fiorina Is a Guided Missile Aimed Right at Donald Trump

April 27, 2016 5:14 PM @DavidAFrench

Ted Cruz’s vice presidential pick is mostly about beating Donald Trump. Cruz can’t be president unless he beats Trump, and in choosing Fiorina he chose last fall’s most effective (and sometimes only) Trump-fighter. At a time when even Cruz was cozying up to Trump — and when his other rivals were often doing their best to ignore him — Fiorina went straight at The Donald. And it’s pretty clear that she gets under Trump’s skin, provoking him into one of the campaign’s more memorable personal attacks and a debate exchange that made Trump look like an oaf:

But she was hitting him well before that debate, taking him on even in August — highlighting in just a few seconds his Clinton connections and donations along with his multiple, unexplained policy changes:

I hope and expect to see Fiorina on the stump daily — relentlessly and remorselessly attacking Trump. I also expect Trump to respond the way Trump does, with personal attacks and crass insults. The window of opportunity to defeat Trump is closing fast. The Carly choice may represent Cruz’s last, best hope to stave off defeat.
