Jay,

Longterm bullish demand elasticity??? OK, so the article is suggesting that cheaper components from Korea will result in cheaper PC and peripheral prices in The States and Europe, hence stimulating demand? How does this bear on the current debate on the thread as to calling the bottom on semi-equip stocks, when the rebound is coming, when the DRAM overcapacity will work itself out, ETC.? Obviously if the Koreans keep selling chips below market, Japanese, Taiwanese and American chipmakers won't be making enough money to justify huge capital equipment purchases. Korea is providing a deflationary drain on global electronic prices. This issue has been well documented in many recent news articles. It's quite possible that there will be more lobbying efforts on the parts of semiconductor co's to stop Korea from dumping.
Price stability has to be restored before the chip industry can continue its dramatic growth rate. Anyway, enough said.

Regards,
AZ
