I read that about Rubin but somehow,it didn't jive. Why did he give
up a lucrative position and give up millions upon millions of dollars
to take the position in the adminstration? It would seem that the
USA has to help out its neighbors and potential consumers, especially
since the world might start splintering into a big three. I do think
his buddies at Goldman Sachs had a huge benefit since they know how
he thinks and probably can predict his policies and invest accordingly. Also the bailout worked there, where many thing the
Korean bailout will fail.
(just read in the Times that the reason people are so concerned about
the chicken virus is that a flu in the early part of the century
killed 21 million..eeks)
Who knows many the internet will be a vehicle where third parties
who don't have the big money supporters can change politics in the
future.
