I have a serious question:

Does anyone think that message groups like Techstocks have a measurable effect on stocks?

-My sense is that they have very little effect.

Which surprises me because most of the on-line financial data bases will contain a techstocks reference.

My guess is that most people "invest" on whim, and don't really look for information.

Boards like techstocks are great for puffing something up - like IOM. But not bringing something down. Or establishing reason.

In the case of a COPY, the fact that the stock price has dropped below $3/share relates to the split and the end of the year, and only marginally from the crazy company information or a feeling of lack of company progress or credibility.

Finally [EDITORIAL COMMENT] my sense is that by charging for access, heavily editing the messaging, and kicking people off, Techstocks has lost its edge. Other boards are springing up that are net-priced (free) and uncensored - "supporting" themselves via banner ads. They're more entertaining. And are building traffic at the expense of techstocks.
