Ken...could be that these sellers are locking in profit in '97 on half(or whatever)of their holdings , knowing that in 3 weeks they will have just as many shares again to start '98 with, thereby getting some distribution out of the way now, that probably would take place at split time anyway. S.

I still remember couple years ago when the floating point problem was found in the CPU,
the analysts shout loudly that that is the end of INTEL, and INTEL will drop at least $50 points. Then 3 years later, just look at what happens to Intel? The big winners are those who
loaded INTEL at that time.
Now those analysts and bears said CPQ is heading toward the dead end, do you believe?
If not, then now is the time to load, three years later you will not regret.

If CPQ miss the estimate by 10 cent, CPQ will hold at the current price(The current price
has already take that into account), If CPQ meet or over the target, you will see what will happen. The big event for the stock market in 1998:

FED WILL CUT THE RATE.

The big events for CPQ in 1998:

Win 98
MECEDE
VIDEO PHONE on PCs , and low price PCs. How many on the thread will not buy
a low cost PCs to enjoy the Video phones on this thread if you do not have a PC yet ?
