So, there WAS a 'good guy with a gun'. Because he wasn't a 'good guy with an assault rifle', he was forced to retreat!

Obviously, our 'good guys with guns' need assault rifles. Perhaps we should give them machine guns!

Shep, I can't open the link, and what you posted doesn't give much detail.

Was the armed security guard stationed in the club? Or did he come from somewhere else after hearing gunfire?

Either way, even if you repealed the 2nd amendment tomorrow, there will be many, many people who will still take their security into their own hands.

Sounds like the off duty officer saved lives:

Soon after Mr. Mateen first opened fire, he was confronted by an armed security guard who was an off-duty police officer, said John Mina, the Orlando police chief, at a news conference Monday morning. They exchanged gunfire. The security guard was then joined by an unknown number of police officers, the first to arrive on the scene.

During these early rounds of gunfire, the police said, many patrons were able to escape. But the assailant retreated deeper into the club, eventually barricading himself in the bathroom, where some patrons had gone to hide.

Lucky Fayetteville Burglar Gets Away With Bullets Instead Of A Toe Tag

Posted at 9:20 am on June 11, 2016 by Bob Owens

Fayetteville, (NC) is arguably the dumbest place in the United States to attempt a home invasion or burglary. Fayetteville is on the edge of Fort Bragg, and the area is teeming with paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne, Green Berets, Delta Force operators, the many elite units that sustain them, and more than a handful of retired Special Forces and Delta operators who live and run firearms training schools in the area.

Put bluntly, it’s a great place to get shot, and this morning, someone did.

A Fayetteville man shot a suspected burglar on Saturday morning as the person tried to break into his home.

Fayetteville police said Chris Hartley, 25, shot an unidentified suspect at his Bianca Place home before 4:45 a.m.. The suspect was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

This burglar was lucky, in that the home he attempted to invade was not occupied by someone with considerably more skill at arms, and who wouldn’t have left him with survivable wounds.
