To All,

I wouldn't get too concerned over the wild, year end volatilty in the market. MM's are balancing and readjusting their portfolios for end of year numbers, and the trading is reflecting those adjustments. CPQ has the same fundamentals it had when it was trading at $79. It may dip a little here but in 2-3 months it will be okay. In fact, in January you will see CPQ on the "reccommended buy list" of at least one top brokerage firm, for whatever that's worth. The whole tech sector is still out of favor, and will not roll until earnings come in okay, and we see the institutions start to buy, which probably won't happen until 2nd quarter of 1998. Only one man's opinion!

Howie

Jorge, I was just visiting MW and noticed that CPQ short sellers only have 1.62 days worth of shorts... It sure will be interesting to see what happens after Jan 1st when we don't have tax selling excuses... I for one can see the stock holding at 3 pm instead of the late afternoon selling thats been happening!
Happy New Year.... Ken

none but the 1991 75 to 22 was bec. of earnings.
in some cases those crahses happened bec. cpq reported 200% profit increase and 100% revenue increase.
only the 1991 crash was earnings related.
cpq has great report in jan 98
