<<No excimer laser requred to do 0.25um on this machine>>

James:

As I recall the discussions here, it has been understood for some time that the Pentium II is imaged with a mercury arc illumination source utilizing phase-shift technology. The discussion here also has been to the effect, however, that the PII has taken the phase shifted m. arc. lamp as far as it can go, and INTC's Merced therefore will be imaged with SVGL's Micrascan III, incorporating a DUV excimer laser supplied by Cymer. I know that all here would be grateful for any confirmation of these thoughts that you might be able to obtain. If anyone else reading this post can speak authoritatively on this point, I would encourage them to do so.

Regards and good luck,

John
