Bob,

Does the Diamond card even support OpenGL? I just realized that my Matrox II does not support enough of it to run Quake. (which I got for Christmas.)

Can the card maintain the refresh rates at 1600x1200 when you go to higher color depths? Matrox Millenium II can maintain 77 Hz up to 16bit color. When I go to 24bit color, it drops to 74 Hz.

The System I just purchased was for a friend. I am waiting until the next generation of boards are available.

I don't see that much of a need to upgrade my 6x86 PR166 either. I will wait for either the 100 MHz Socket 7 CPUs or MXi. Even though the boxed 6x86MX 66 x 2.5 seems appealing. But I would like at least 2 x 100MHz or 2.5 x 100MHz

Robert,
re:>>Currently, I am using my 6x86L PR200 CPU. The difference in performance between a 6x86MX-PR233 and the 6x86L-PR 200 is not really worth the upgrade price!<<

I agree. As much as I want to upgrade, I just have no valid rationale. With my 6x86L200 overclocked to 2*83MHz the performance is very good. However, a PR300 on a 100MHz motherboard sure will be fun!

Appreciate your insight on the videocard and monitor. I am in the market for a new large monitor (19") so your advice on getting a fast refresh rate is greatly appreciated.

thanks again and have a great new year,
steve h
