Can anyone explain this situation to me? On 12/3/97 I sold my only position converting only to cash. On 12/10/97 I requested a wire from Datek for the balance of my account. I did this through account options and my account was debited to zero. I then received an email from Jon Normile notifying me that my account was closed then a second email from him stating that I had to wait the required three days then another ten days for the check to clear before I would receive my wire. This did not make sense to me as I had sold on the 3rd and requested the wire on the 10th, giving 5 business days in which the SEC three day wait would have expired. Plus what the heck is up with the 10 day wait for the check to clear. I did not quibble however. I simply waited for my funds. Today, 12/30/97, I still had not received my funds so I accessed my Datek account and pulled up the account history. There I see the fund request on the 10th but then a credit of "cash" for the same balance as the fund request on 12/12/97. I had previously sent wiring instructions to Datek and have in fact received a wire from them in the past. Anyone have a valid reason for this?
Thanks for your input.
Brian

If LIMIT is default on orders7 then I must agree with you, nonetheless on all other servers I would prefer if Datek would take MARKET and keypunched LIMIT PRICE as a Limit order (maybe displayed on the confirmation page in big red letters) rather then a Market order.

<< There are people on this thread who have had major (six figure) problems with Datek, but remain with Datek because of how Datek works. And I personally prefer that Datek progress toward Level II quotes and options rather than re-inventing the wheel (especially if the wheel is to be square).>>

By any chance do you have any info on options? when comming? and how much? From my infrequent reading of this thread it seems to me Datek people refuse to answer either of those questions.
