RE AMD Design Win, NOT! news.com

That has to signal game over for AMD and you can rest assured that Compaq is happy to have achieved its goal of lower price components. AMD has now lost its toe-hold in the low-budget market to both Cyrix and Intel and things are getting worse. That Intel design win is nothing compared to what will happen in the next quarter given Intel's latest price cut announcement. The Pentium MMX 233 will sell for well under $99 in meaningful quantity. Had they been able to execute early, AMD might have stood a chance but this certainly looks like lights out to me.

re : Check out AMD's latest Design win!

Got to get rid of all those excess Intel chips somehow - must have been given free to Compaq
