UniComp and Into 2000 Sign Heads of Agreement to Develop Year 2000 COBOL Solution on IBM AS/400
MARIETTA, Ga.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UNICOMP, INC. (NASDAQ:UCMP - news) today announced that its subsidiary, Unibol, Ltd., has agreed with INTO 2000 International, Ltd., to develop a Year 2000 COBOL version of its software for the IBM AS/400.

Under the terms of the agreement, Unibol will utilize its AS/400 COBOL compiler technology to provide COBOL support for COBOL applications within the INTO 2000 Millennium toolset. The INTO 2000 Millennium toolset supports the analysis and modification of software applications developed on the IBM AS/400 and written in the RPG programming language so that such applications will function correctly through the Year 2000 and beyond. Unibol will receive worldwide royalty payments from INTO 2000 on all copies supplied to end users of the COBOL Year 2000 solution module.

Development of the COBOL product will be completed by the end of January 1998, at which point beta testing will start with a premier supplier of CASE tools to the IBM AS/400 marketplace and a European oil, gas and data services company. The product is expected to be in general release from the start of March 1998.

Stephen A. Hafer, President and CEO of UniComp, said, ''IBM sources estimate that approximately 20 per cent of all software applications developed on the AS/400 are COBOL applications. IVAN1 I didn't list TPRO because I don't believe it will move up in the next few weeks as it will take the next analyst conference to reaffirm they are off and running with big numbers. With regard to ACLY my daughter who runs UNSYSIS Y2K program has told me Geimer is a "class person". The market niche they occupy is unique.I bought it because of that.
